REGIONAL DANCE AMERICA

RDA is a prestigious national organization that celebrates excellence in pre-professional dance. As part of the Lake Erie Ballet Company’s RDA Ensemble, dancers will train, perform, and connect with other talented artists from across the country.

General Information

Open to dancers from all studios, regardless of where they currently train, this program is designed to make elite training and performance opportunities more accessible—helping aspiring artists take the next step in their dance journey.

By participating in Regional Dance America, dancers will engage with peers and professionals from across the country, building both their skills and their confidence on a national stage. This program reflects our mission to provide access and opportunity to all dancers—regardless of studio affiliation—ensuring that talent, passion, and potential are what open the door to transformative experiences in dance.

Participation

To be considered, participants must audition and perform in Lake Erie Ballet Company’s annual production of Erie’s Nutcracker Reimagined, a spring performance and attend the RDA regional Festival. Auditions will serve a dual purpose, determining casting for both the Nutcracker and our Regional Dance America Ensemble.

An informational meeting will be held on September 13, immediately following the Nutcracker Kick-Off Meeting at Sovereign Ballet Studio. This session will cover everything you need to know — including costs, fundraising opportunities, rehearsal schedules, and travel plans. After the meeting, we will finalize the RDA Ensemble with dancers who are ready to commit to this exciting opportunity!

Eligibility

Ensemble and Apprentice Ensemble

The Lake Erie Ballet Company offers two distinct ensemble levels within our RDA program, ensuring dancers receive training and performance opportunities best suited to their age and ability.

ENSEMBLE

Ensemble is our advanced group of dancers who show strong ability and are ready for a more rigorous commitment. Members focus on building stamina, refining their technique, exploring different styles of choreography, and representing Lake Erie Ballet Company at the Regional Dance America Festival and other events. Being in the Ensemble means staying dedicated to rehearsals, performances, and teamwork while continuing to grow as a dancer and artist.

APPRENTICE ENSEMBLE
The Apprentice Ensemble is designed for younger dancers who are developing their technique, artistry, and performance skills while being introduced to the RDA experience. This group focuses on building a strong foundation through training, tailored performance opportunities, and ensemble work that prepares them for future advancement into the Ensemble. Apprentices still participate in the RDA Festival and gain valuable experience performing alongside their peers at the spring show, but their repertoire and responsibilities are tailored to their current stage of development.

  • Ages: Minimum age 10 (must turn 10 by May 6) through 25 years old
  • Dancers must be taking at least 2 hours of ballet and 4 hours of dance total per week in their home studio
  • Dancers must remain at their home studio for the duration of the 2025-2026 dance season. Though rehearsals will happen at a central location, this program is intended to support dancers as they remain at their home studio.
